SME's 80% TRAINING GRANT


Developing human resources is vital in driving growth through technology and innovation, as well as enabling SMEs to move up the value chain. To bridge gaps in the human resource development of SMEs, existing programs on skills upgrading, acquisition of core competencies and specialised knowledge are being offered at PSDC at 80% training grants by SME Corporation Malaysia. Training Modules for SMEs are oriented to reflect changing market requirements and technology advancements to support the supply of skilled and knowledge workers, both in technical and managerial fields.

Form of Assistance
Assistance is given in the form of a matching grant where 80% of the cost of training is borne by SMECorp. SMEs that contribute to Human Resource Development Fund (HRDF) will also be eligible for the remaining 20% of the training cost. PSDC and SMECorp is working closely in integrating and coordinating training programs for SMEs.

Driving Growth Through Skill Enhancement Programs
PSDC is actively involved in generating and reviewing our training programs to ensure that they reflect the entrepreneurial and operational needs of SMEs and able to help SMEs to grow. PSDC training programs; from Industrial Automation, Process Instrumentation and Process, Production and Process, Mechanical, Electrical, Marketing, Communication, Halal and ICT are all tailored to the needs of SMEs.

SME Training Fund
To qualify for the 80% SMIDEC Funding, SMEs must fulfill the following criteria:

  • At least 60% equity held by Malaysians
  • Possess valid premise license
  • For the services sector:
    • must be incorporated under the Registration of Business Ordinance 1956 with an annual sales turnover of not exceeding RM5 million or full-time employees not exceeding 50
  • For manufacturing companies or companies providing manufacturing-related services:
    • must be incorporated under the Companies Act 1965 with annual sales turnover of not exceeding RM25 million or with full-time employees not exceeding 15

 SMEs are required to submit the following documents to qualify for the funding:

  • Memorandum and Articles of Association (M&A)
  • Company's Latest Audited Account (New SMEs that have yet to have audited accounts can submit their latest Bank Account Activity Statement as an alternative)
  • Company’s latest EPF statement
  • Local Authority License (MPPP / MPSP license)
  • Manufacturing License (Applicable for manufacturing companies that have more than RM2.5 million in paid up capital OR more than 75 staff)
